As we get ready to celebrate your birth on January 9, 1931, we reflect on the life that was. As we are approaching ten years (April 12, 2003) since your transition, it seems like yesterday that you were laughing and smiling with us.
We love you and we miss you!
In Memory of Our Father
Not just a father was he but a daddy and a friend
Even when he punished us the purpose had an end
He traded away his youth worked hard day and night
Dedication revealing truth to raise his children right
One of the last of his generation of fathers tough and true
Earned or respect and admiration like good role models do
His time on eartth has ended and although we're empty and sad
Wounds are somehow mended with loving memories of our DAD!

2 Words to describe you would simply be THE GREATEST! I will always cherish that final conversation that you and I had just before your transition. Hope I'm making you proud. I could have never made it without you. No matter what you have and always will make me proud to carry the Downing name. I'm always going to be "Git's Baby"...Rest in Him Dad.
